Methodist College Kuala Lumpur (MCKL) has launched the MCKL Teaching Scholarship to promote quality
teaching and learning since 2013.
This Scholarship is offered to high-achieving individuals who have a keen passion for teaching and want to make a
difference in the lives of young college students by sharing their knowledge, skills and experience.
Application is open to all former MCKL students who have graduated not more than two years prior to the closing
date of the application and who will commence their undergraduate studies in 2017 or by the end of March 2018
at the latest.
Applicant is responsible for applying and gaining admission to pursue an approved Bachelor degree at a local
or overseas university based on the criteria below.
Overseas university: Top one hundred (100) universities based on the 2016-17 overall Times
Higher Education World University Rankings or top fifty (50) by subject areas / field of studies.
Local university: Ranked Tier 5 and above on SETARA rating, subject to Scholarship Panel approval.
Approved Courses of study:
Mathematics, Chemistry, Law, Economics
Duration of studies:
Bachelor’s degree: 3 – 4 years
Value of the Award:
Sponsorship of tuition fees only, up to 100% of tuition fee maximum (Applicant must be prepared with funds
for accommodation and meals, course materials, transportation, and other related expenses from other sources).
Criteria for selection:
A Level results with 3As and above / AUSMAT with ATAR 90.0 and above
Excellent co-curricular records and outstanding leadership qualities
Good character, passionate in teaching and training college students
Commitment to quality teaching and learning
Excellent interpersonal communication skills

of the Registrar.
Completed Application Forms must be submitted before 5.00 p.m. on 24 March 2017.
Late applications will not be accepted.
Terms and Conditions of Award for 2017 MCKL Teaching Scholarship
1. Shortlisted applicants will be required to attend an interview. Notification of the date, time
and venue of the interview will be done via e-mail and SMS. Failure to respond to the email
or SMS by the prescribed deadline will result in the cancellation of the candidate’s scheduled interview.
2. The recipient of the Scholarship is bonded to take up a lecturing position in MCKL or serve as a
secondary school teacher in any of the Wesley Methodist Schools in Malaysia.
3. The recipient is required to go through the Cambridge International Diploma in Teaching and
Learning (CIDTL) programme while serving at MCKL as lecturer.
4. The recipient of the Scholarship will have to sign an agreement with MCKL. The recipient
will be bonded for one and a half (1½) years for each year of sponsorship. However, the Scholarship
Panel reserves the right to review the length of the bond.
5. The recipient must not accept any other scholarship, financial aid or sponsorship that is binding
from any registered organization or university while the agreement with MCKL is still in force.
Should he/she accept any non-binding scholarship, financial aid, award or sponsorship from any
registered organization or university, he/she is obliged to inform the College in writing of the source and
amount of the award within two (2) weeks of the award date.
6. The amount of award and the number of full/partial scholarships to be given out are at the discretion
of the Management of MCKL.
7. This Scholarship is given at the sole discretion of the College. Applicants are not
guaranteed award of the scholarship upon fulfilling the conditions set.
