Midsummer Night 2016

12 Aug 2016

On the evening of August 12 2016, college students gathered on campus for Midsummer Night 2016, an annual celebration of academic excellence for life and the traditional ceremony of the Student Council passing the torch onto their successors.

The evening began with students enjoying themselves at the food and games booths around campus, and as the sun set below the horizon, the crowd adjourned to the field for the official ceremony. After an opening performance by the students, Ms Moey Yoke Lai, the CEO of MCKL, officiated the event with an encouraging speech, followed by the Bursary Awards Ceremony, wherein MCKL’s KPM Bursary students received a laptop or an iPad as a token of appreciation for enrolling in the College after achieving outstanding results in their SPM exam.

The event also served as the perfect opportunity to celebrate Ms Moey’s birthday, followed by the Student Council handover ceremony, after which dinner was served for all. Throughout the evening, a host of students performed on stage in a bid to win the title of best performance, dazzling their audience with their skill in song, dance and music. Students and staff were also free to mingle and enjoy each other’s company in a festive environment. Upon completion of the awards ceremony, lucky draws and closing performance, the dance floor was then opened up to students for the rest of the evening.

Another year has passed, and so concludes the service of another Student Council’s formal service to the College. We look forward to future endeavours of the new Student Council and to another year of Excellence for Life!
