Treasure Hunt 2016

20 Feb 2016

th1The Student Council of Methodist College Kuala Lumpur was given the opportunity of organizing the annual Treasure Hunt of MCKL, and the theme for 2016 was Hunt for HOPe (H4H). The word ‘HOPe’ in H4H stands for Home of Peace, an organization which houses orphans and single parents’ children.

Currently, there are 16 children in the home and they are cared for by a woman named Justine Morais, the founder of the home. The children receive O Levels education through home schooling. The goal of this event was to raise funds to improve the living standards of these underprivileged children, and we managed to raise RM10,000 to donate to the Home Of Peace.

Around 550 participants from MCKL and selected high schools took part in this event which spanned through selected destinations such as KL City Gallery, KLCC, Times Square and the Bukit Bintang Pedestrian Walkway. These treasure hunters had to make full use of their wits and senses to outpace and outsmart one another on the streets in a bid to overcome challenges and solve puzzles.

Prizes for this year’s treasure hunt included 2 open Malindo air tickets to Bangkok, 2 open Malindo air tickets to Langkawi Island, gift cards from Starbucks, H&M, Factorie, Fish Eye Lens, and many others!

The VIP present for the event was none other than Ms. Justine Morais, the founder of Home of Peace herself. We are grateful for her presence in this event, and we hope that participants and supporters alike all gained a greater awareness and appreciation for their privileges in life as well as greater compassion for those in need.
