MCKL Graduation & Awards Ceremony


“The biggest strength of being in an intellectually stimulating environment is that it’s not all about books and theory applications, but it’s about the people you’re surrounded with” – Sun Cheng Kidd, recipient of the MCKL CEO Award, in his speech at the MCKL Graduation & Awards Ceremony

On the 15th of February 2020, over 300 MCKL students flocked to the Dream Centre in Petaling Jaya for the annual MCKL Graduation & Awards Ceremony to celebrate the successful completion of their respective programmes.

Provost and CEO of Heriot-Watt University Malaysia, Professor Mushtak Al-Atabi joined us as the guest of honour.

For years, MCKL has produced academic excellence, and 2019 was no exception.

In the Cambridge A Level programme, MCKL students yet again produced 100% passes with eighteen students scoring 4A*, an improvement from the previous year’s results. Kenny Loo Kah Kin took home the Yin Kam Yoke Award for having the best performance in the November 2019 examinations.

For the Australian Matriculation programme, Hannah Li-An Cheah emerged winner of the Subject Certificate of Excellence for being top 0.05% in the world for the subject of Mathematics Application.

Ang Guo Weng, a current student of MCKL’s ACCA programme, achieved Top in the World in the FTX Foundations in Taxation paper for the December 2019 CAT examinations. This is the second time he is awarded Top in the World, with the first being in the June 2019 examinations for the FA2 paper.

The Diploma in Early Childhood Education programme saw three students passing with distinction, they are Annabel Ong, Chu Wai Lam, and Glodie Lai Cheng Yan. Chu Wai Lam received the Datuk Dr. Chiam Heng Keng Award for achieving the highest CGPA of 3.96 in her batch.

Sun Cheng Kidd, a current student of the American Degree Transfer Program (ADTP) of MCKL, became the first-ever ADTP student to receive the MCKL CEO Award. The MCKL CEO Award is given to students who showcase excellent performance in and out of the classroom. Cheng Kidd is the Vice President of the ADTP Union and an active member of the MCKL Student Council. He also actively participates in taekwondo competitions.
